You don't have to carry it alone

Lance McCracken offers warm, practical, one-to-one video consultations for anxiety, low mood, and persistent pain, and brings the same evidence-based skills to organizations through Flexibility at Work workshops.

What we help with

Often overlapping, always personal

Anxiety & panic

Constant worry, racing thoughts, tension, or panic that keeps you on edge. We build practical tools to calm your body and loosen anxiety's grip.

Low mood & depression

Feeling flat, exhausted, or stuck. We work gently on motivation, routine, and reconnecting with what gives life meaning.

Chronic pain

When pain shapes your days, mood, and sleep. We focus on pacing, flare-up planning, and changing how pain runs your life.

Company workshops

Half-day and full-day sessions bringing the evidence-based skills to managers, teams and organizations, helping people think and work more flexibly together.

Meet Lance

Professor & Head of Division, Clinical Psychology, Uppsala University

Lance McCracken is Professor and Head of Division in Clinical Psychology, Psychology Department, at Uppsala University, since 2018. He is both a trained clinical psychologist and clinical researcher in Behavioral Medicine. He completed his PhD at West Virginia University and a postdoctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins. He has held academic posts at The University of Chicago, University of Bath (England), and King's College London, prior to his current post in Sweden.

In his numerous management and leadership roles, leading clinical teams and research groups in the US and UK, specialty health care services in the UK, and now an academic division at Uppsala University, Lance has developed a keen interest in how to support people and groups to feel, focus, and perform better.

For more than 30 years, Lance has developed, studied, and applied a generally applicable model of human behavior, wellbeing, and performance — a set of trainable skills organized around three key skills: open, aware, and engaged.

"I am an old man and have known many troubles, but most of them never happened."
— Mark Twain, American author

Flexibility at Work: A Practical Workshop

With these words, Mark Twain nicely describes what it is like to be a human being. We have wonderful, creative, analytic, sometimes logical, high-precision reality-detection devices — our thinking minds. And yet at some level we know this is not so, certainly not all of the time. Our minds are as likely to tell us a story as to reveal the truth of the world we live in, including the world of work.

While we strive for personal fulfillment and success at work, and while organizations aim to thrive and provide staff with a conducive, happy, and healthy workplace, we are often misdirected — leaning left when we want to go right, staying quiet when we want to speak, or speaking when we might have been better to think for another minute or two. All of us can need a boost — to step back, take a small break, polish our skills, and learn new approaches.

Lance presents half-day or full-day workshops that give participants in organizations the opportunity to do exactly this — grounded in behavioral science, supported by evidence from more than 1,000 randomized controlled trials of the approach, and brought to life through short, live exercises participants can experience firsthand.
